1 Week To 50 Years

Birthday Countdown Celebration

Dear Friend,

May my words find you held by deep tranquillity.

With only one week to go until my 50th birthday, one question arose as I filmed the final part of my Countdown Celebration series: What do we do when life gets messy?

We go with the mess.

What do we do when we suddenly realize we've made a mistake without even noticing?

We go with the mess—and laugh.

What do we do when the inconvenient barges in, stealing away the hope for perfection?

We go with the mess, laugh (maybe after cursing a little!), and keep going.

Share Evoking Grace. (Insightful Living With Antonia Lyons)

Filming this last video was anything but smooth. I had to reshoot countless times, and just when I thought I’d nailed it, I realized that throughout the entire series, I had been saying something that makes little sense in English. My first reaction? Panic.

But then, I chose to go with the mess. I laughed it off and decided to show up authentically—flaws and all. Yes, sometimes things don’t go as planned. And that's okay. We embrace it, roll with it, and move forward with grace, humor, and a lot of heart.

I come away from these five weeks with a new awareness of myself, and I sense that I am crossing the threshold into a much wider space—one where I will enjoy greater freedom and a deeper connection with myself.

In no particular order and for one last time, below are ten of the fifty most important things I have learnt so far on my journey.

  • Own your stuff. It’s not always mummy & daddy’s fault.

  • Don’t let love turn you into a punching bag. Know when it is time to come off the ring.

  • If you bruise easily, learn to take the knocks. We are all scared.

  • Create space for the one you love to be as big as they are

  • Being politically correct is a waste of time. You are always going to p*** someone off anyway.

  • Stand your ground for what you believe, even if you end up on your own. And never say “I told you so.” There’s no need, and it’s ugly.

  • Positivity is overrated. Learn to navigate your inner highs and lows instead. And give yourself plenty of grace in between.

  • Not all dreams will or should come true. And that is OK.

  • Whatever you wish to be today, don’t make it someone else’s problem.

  • Always have a pair of sunglasses at hand.

My new book, ' Living Big: Extraordinary You in an Ordinary World' will be released on the 24th of August on Amazon, making it a lovely birthday present. I hope readers come away from it with a renewed sense of self and a deeper awareness of their presence in the world.

I will of course share more about both my birthday and the book's launch in the weeks ahead, but for now, I offer you deep gratitude for celebrating this special moment with me.

With Grace, Antonia
